portrayal of Gu Jun Pyo (Korean's version of Daoming Si) by Lee Min Ho is different from the taiwan's version, somehow. and they really look VERY alike! hahahah. Korean's version is flashier and sadder. full of twists, which inevitably led to fewer scenes of Gu Jun Pyo and Geum Jan Di (Shancai) together. how sad. instead it was more of Yun Ji Hoo (Huaze Lei) with her.
that, i guess, is the only gripe i have.
some things are only visible through faith.
the producers didn't aim for the show to be logical. the storyline was lacking in flow, but their aim was for the show to be a hit. a hit, it was. they completed the filming of this series in spite of so many obstacles - suicide of one of the actresses, accident-proned cast. in fact, after filming ended, many of them had to go to the hospital for a full body check up. even my Gu Jun Pyo had his surgery postponed till filming was over! the main cast was really incredible - all of them are in their early 20s, which explains the lack of depth in the more emotional scenes. in fact my Gu Jun Pyo is only 1 year older than me!
my point is, they did it. it was a path fraught with obstacles. the main cast comprised of greenhorns, which also implied that producers had experienced immense difficulties in sourcing for funds. the biggest challenge was then to ensure that it does not pale in comparison with the Taiwanese and Japanese versions - which both happened to be mega hits in Asia - with limited funds. and they did it.
the learning point is then, to trudge ahead even in times of difficulties. because everyone else - time, especially - moves ahead, even when you're not. especially at a crossroad, when one's staying stationary because of fear. don't let fear of the future, or fear of consequences, hold you back. the future is not meant to be predictable. so trudge on bravely, amidst the blinding mist, for it's the only way forward.
move. conquer. fighting.
